Sheltering in Place at HearthStone
HearthStone Senior Living is built to meet Florida’s rigorous building standards, designed to endure high winds and potential flooding. Our community is well-equipped to safely shelter residents in place during a hurricane.
In the event of a power outage, our team remains ready to provide uninterrupted care and services, ensuring residents are comfortable and secure. Florida regulations require that assisted living facilities have backup power generators to maintain critical services like lighting and air conditioning. HearthStone goes a step further, with generators that also support cooking, heating, and elevator operations. We maintain a minimum of one week’s supply of food and water for each resident, ensuring their needs are met even if supply chains are disrupted.

Throughout the duration of a storm, we post frequent updates on our website and social media platforms, sharing the latest information as it becomes available.
Upon move-in, we ask primary family contacts to join our messaging service, which provides essential updates during emergencies. Our automated system allows families to receive critical information in their preferred format—whether via text, email, or phone call.

Our community features reinforced construction, expanded generator capacity, and 24-hour staffing to provide greater peace of mind. We offer short-term stays for those who may benefit from our enhanced safety features and comprehensive care during a hurricane. A short-term stay at HearthStone can provide the necessary support, supplies, and security for older adults who prefer not to travel.
